Day 1, April 8, 2013
Los Angeles, Beijing
Travel to Los Angeles International Airport for your early morning flight to Beijing. Your nine-day adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific aboard a wide cabin jetliner and cross the International Dateline.
Beijing (King Wing Hotel, 5-star hotel)
Arrive in Beijing, the capital of China after a stopover in Shanghai. You will be met by your local tour guide at the Beijing Capital International Airport, largely known as the “Gateway to China” then transfer to the hotel in the heart of the city’s cultural center.
Day 3, April 10, 2013 - Beijing
In the morning, visit the Temple of Heaven, built under the Ming Dynasty in 1420 A.D. The Temple, considered sacred until the end of the dynastic era, was used by the Emperor for ceremonial rites to the gods to ensure the year’s good harvest. Next take a tour bus excursion to the Great Wall of China, one of the 7 Wonders of the World. This 4,000-mile-long, 2,000-year-old ancient structure is said to be the only man-made object visible to the naked eye from space. The Ming Tombs is next on the list as you will visit one of 13 Ming Emperors’ Tombs that has been fully excavated and open for exploration. The day will conclude with a visit to the Olympics debut.
Day 4, April 11, 2013 – Beijing
Day 5, April 12, 2013
Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou (Grand Metropark Hotel)
This morning you will board a China Eastern Airlines flight to Shanghai, and then take a bus ride to Suzhou, often called “The Venice of the East.” Have a short break after lunch then enjoy an afternoon sightseeing trip to Tiger Hill, so named for its striking resemblance to a crouching tiger. Today will end with an Evening Dinner Show with traditional Chinese Music.
Day 6, April 13, 2013 -Suzhou, Hangzhou (White Horse Lake Jianguo Hotel)
This morning you will find yourself at the centuries old Lingering Garden, recognized in 2001 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular destination for artists and tourists alike. Next there will be an afternoon visit to the National Embroidery Institute to see some silk embroidery, an important local craft with a 1,000-year history. A bus ride to Hangzhou follows with a visit to the Economic Development Zone for your shopping pleasure.
Day 7, April 14, 2013
Hangzhou, Shanghai (Renaissance Shanghai Putuo Hotel , 5-star hotel)
Enjoy a morning boat cruise on Hangzhou’s famous West Lake with a relaxing stopover at its jewel-like pagodas and tea houses. You will then have the pleasure to visit the centuries-old Lingyin Temple, including its stunning 64.3 ft-high camphor-wood carved Buddha Statue. We will continue the bus journey to the wonderful cultural sights of China”s largest city, Shanghai.
Day 8, April 15, 2013 - Shanghai
You will start today with an exciting trip to the Bund, a popular waterfront area in central Shanghai. Next enjoy the Yu Garden, a maze of marvelous pavilions, ponds, rocky works and over-arching trees. Afterwards, you will have some unscheduled free time to explore the nearby old town bazaar then onto an afternoon visit to the Pudong economic development zone.
Day 9, April 16, 2013
Shanghai, Los Angeles
You may spend your final hours in China on your own in the morning, enjoying Shanghai’s many cultural attractions. Your afternoon flight departure makes your arrival to the U.S.A. on the same day.
